What a Daily Photo Report Actually Does for Your Framing Schedule

Industry Insights
October 13, 2026
Why daily jobsite photo reporting keeps GCs ahead of framing problems, and what to ask any framing sub about documentation before you sign.

Most GCs have lived this: you call the framing sub on a Thursday and the answer is "we're about on track." Then Monday shows up and nobody can tell you what "about" means.

On our jobs, you don't have to ask. Every day, our super sends photos of what got framed, what's staged, and what's next. You see the work without driving to the site.

‍

Why it matters on a framing job

Framing is the first trade that makes the building look real, and everybody behind us is waiting on it. When framing slips, MEP, drywall, and inspections slip with it. The problem is rarely that the crew is slow. It's that nobody saw the problem early enough.

‍

Daily photos help three ways:

  1. You catch issues while they're cheap. A wrong wall location or a missing blocking detail is a few hours of work on day one. Found three weeks later, it's a tear-out.
  2. You get a record. When someone asks who did what and when, there's a dated photo. No he-said, she-said.
  3. Your owner and your PM stay calm. A real picture beats a verbal update every time.

‍

What to ask any framing sub before you hire them

  • Do you send photo documentation every day, or only when I ask?
  • Who on site is responsible for it, and can they speak with the whole crew?
  • Do you review the plans or a 3D model before framing starts, or do you find the conflicts on site?

If the answers are fuzzy, expect fuzzy updates once the job is moving.

‍

How we run it

We self-perform our framing, with a bilingual, OSHA-certified supervisor on site, no exceptions. We run a design review with 3D overlay before the first wall goes up, then document the build every day. That's how we've kept 250+ projects across 21+ states moving.
